Shout Out: OPH & STW BCA Staff
By Callie Kruschke
The BCA completed a Triennial audit of our practices recently at both MCF-Oak Park Heights and MCF-Stillwater. We were found to be in complete compliance with MNJIS/NCIC standards. The review indicated that MCF-OPH and MCF-STW exemplifies what the BCA is striving for with all agencies in Minnesota.
I want to extend a BIG congratulations to all of our staff at both facilities for their hard work and great attention to detail. We have many staff from the Support Staff positions running background checks on contractors or volunteers to our After-Hours Warrants Unit at MCF-OPH. Please know that the work you do makes the DOC look good and you can't be thanked enough for that.
I am very grateful for everyone's hard work and dedication to the MN Dept. of Corrections.

Greater Twin Cities Residents Encounter Christ
By Sherlinda Wheeler
On September 14, volunteers from the Greater Twin Cities Residents Encounter Christ prison ministry (GTC REC) team handed out bottles of cold water and soda, as well as Caribou coffee and a goodie bag with muffins, beef stick and trail mix to the staff at OPH to say “Thank you" to staff.
The staff at OPH really appreciate this yearly event and we ordered the nicest weather we have ever had during these events to show our appreciation! Lol. Thank you for your continue support of OPH.

OPH's Healed American Kestrel Henrietta Returned
By Sgt. Shawn Harrington
On 8/31/23, Lauri Arndt from the Raptor Center brought our little American Kestrel back out to OPH. We brought her out near zone 7 on the south side and let her go back into the wild. She flew into the first cottonwood tree and perched.
As we were walking away, Lauri was stating how the property was ideal for this species because of the high light poles. Just then the little bird flew back out and landed on the pole right in front of us. She swooped down to the ground and grabbed something then flew away again.
Shortly after that, she again flew back out and around us, then landed on a light pole for a photo. I am glad I was able to be a part of helping this little bird. I know for me when I get to see the wildlife around here, it gives me a moment of peace or a small escape from where we work.
Attached are pictures of Henrietta (that's what we named her)!
