  • Faribault Promotes Kreger-Dias Abeygunawardena to Sergeant!

    Congratulations to Sarah Kreger-Dias Abeygunawardena on her promotion to the K1/K2 day shift Float Sergeant position effective 05-22-24.

    Sarah started with the DOC at MCF-Faribault in 2016. She is involved in SORT as the Assistant, she is a Mentor, and a Yellow Ribbon Committee member. Sarah was previously a CIT member and Control Tactics / Self Defense Instructor. She has worked Squad, Visiting, Master Control, and Utility. She is also a Certified Emergency Medical Responder.

  • Congrats to WOOC Captains Oeterrer and Salas

    MCF-Stillwater Captain WOOC – Captain Oetterer will be starting May 8, 2024 and be the WOOC Captain through September 24. On September 25th Captain Salas will start and go through March 26 of 2025.

    Captain Oetterer brings over 23 years of experience with the department, having worked at multiple facilities of all classification levels. He has been an major part of the DOC SORT and SOG emergency response teams for the past decade, previously serving as the commander of ERT. Currently a Lieutenant at Rush City, his wealth of knowledge and experience will be a valuable addition to MCF-STW. Please join me in welcoming him as he assumes the WOOC role starting May 8th.

    Captain Salas will begin her role on September 25th. She began her career at MCF-STW and has remained dedicated to our institution. Holding a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Concordia University, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new position.

    Captain Salas is committed to remaining an asset within the Department of Corrections (DOC) by utilizing her developed management skills and abilities accumulated throughout her career. With a passion for the corrections field, she focuses on leading within the department to contribute to a positive and safe environment for both incarcerated individuals and staff. She is also a strong advocate for women in corrections.

  • Congratulations to Paul Peterson on Warden WOOC Position

    Congratulations to Paul Peterson, who has accepted the Warden WOOC for CIP, behind Warden Gino Anselmo effective April 12, while he is on leave.

    Paul retired from the Bureau of Prisons after 26 years. He held various positions which included Associate Warden Industry and Education, Supervisor of Education, F/S Administrator, Program Reviewer, Lieutenant, and Correctional Officer.

    In 2015 Paul started his career with the MN DOC as a Correctional Teaching Assistant at MCF-ML. In December of 2016 he accepted his current position as a Program Director of MCF-WR CIP.

  • MCF-Faribault's Krenske Promoted to Sergeant

    Miranda Krenske began her career with DOC in July 2017.

    Up until her recent promotion to 3rd Watch K2 Sergeant, she has worked in the utility pool, 3rd Watch Squad and was a member of the SORT team in which she was selected as a Baton Instructor. Miranda is currently a Control Tactics/Self Defense Instructor, a Chemical Irritant Instructor and is the Coordinator for FRB's FTO Program and A-Team Training.

    She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position. Congratulations Sgt. Krenske!

  • Congratulations to Katie Mathers on Promotion to WOOC 2nd Watch Commander

    Please welcome Katie Mathers as she begins a WOOC 2nd watch Commander position on Wednesday, March 27th.

    Katie began her career in the DOC as a Corrections Officer here in Lino Lakes in 2013. During her time as an officer, she also served as a firearms, ICS, professionalism, and IPC instructor as well as a FTO. In 2019 she began working as an Investigator with OSI. Katie also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Metropolitan State University. Please congratulate Katie.

  • New Moorhead District Supervisor

    I am pleased to announce Dale Arnold has accepted the Moorhead District Supervisor position.

    Dale is coming to us from Tri-County Community Corrections where he has been the Deputy Chief Probation Agent for the past 5 ½ years. Dale started his career with Grand Forks Correctional Center in 2007 as a Correctional Officer and was later accepted at Tri-County Corrections as an Associate Agent in 2008. Dale rose through the ranks as an agent, senior agent and then promoted to Deputy Chief in 2018.

    Dale was instrumental in development of the Intensive supervision unit for Tri-County, MITI Coder and trainer for Motivational Interviewing, Carey Guides, Thinking for a Change, and an active Decision Points facilitator. Dale has a strong background implementing new initiatives and has been a leader throughout Minnesota with the State-Wide Training Academy and Evidence Based Practices.

    Dale will officially start March 27, 2024. Please help me welcome Dale to the Moorhead District and DOC!!

  • Rush City's Sgt. Fessenden Promoted to WOOC Lieutenant

  • Congratulations to Shelbi Groath

    Please join us in welcoming and congratulating Shelbi Groath, who has accepted the Exec II position at Central Office assisting Assistant Commissioner Eddie Miles.

    Shelbi joined the department upon completing her bachelor's degree in both Criminal Justice and Management from Rasmussen College. Commencing her tenure as a corrections officer at MCF-Stillwater in 2020, she has since distinguished herself by undertaking work out of class appointments in both the Health Services Unit and the Hearing and Release Unit. Shelbi's active involvement in various committees and comprehensive training sessions has significantly enriched her contributions to the department.

    Notably, she served as the SORT CAT at MCF-Stillwater, showcasing her leadership capabilities, and she is also CIT trained, exemplifying her commitment to continuous professional development. Beyond her professional endeavors, Shelbi finds joy in woodworking and spends quality time outdoors with her wife and dogs during her leisure moments.
